Tuition and School Education

Tuition is intended to complement a student’s education, rather than replace or replicate the teaching and support provided by their school.

Tuition sessions are tailored to the individual student and may focus on areas such as subject knowledge, exam technique, confidence, and independent study skills. However, tuition should be viewed as an additional form of academic support and should not be relied upon as a substitute for regular school attendance, classroom teaching, school-provided resources, or support from the student’s school and teachers.

While every effort will be made to support a student’s progress and development, tuition cannot guarantee a particular grade, examination result, or academic outcome. Progress will depend on a range of factors, including the student’s attendance, engagement, effort, completion of assigned work, school teaching, and individual circumstances.

Parents and students remain responsible for ensuring that they continue to engage appropriately with their school’s teaching, deadlines, assessments, and academic guidance.

Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of every student is my highest priority. I am committed to maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and providing a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment.

Payment & Invoices

Payments must be made at the end of each month, or within the timeframe stated on the invoice, unless an alternative weekly payment arrangement has been agreed in advance.

Invoices will be issued at on the last day of each month, backdating the month’s sessions.

Payment must be made within 48 hours to avoid a late payment fee – 5% of invoice total.

Notice of Withdrawal

A minimum of 4 weeks’ notice is required if you wish to withdraw your child from tuition.

If I am able to fill the space immediately, the notice period may be reduced.

Additional Sessions

For any additional sessions, such as booster sessions or mock exams, places will only be confirmed once full payment has been received.

Communication & Feedback

Homework

Completion of homework is an essential part of the tuition process and plays an important role in developing skills and supporting grade improvement.

Weekly homework will be set, focusing on exam technique and key skills.

Homework is expected to be completed in time for review and formal marking at the next session.

Progress Updates

I will provide regular updates on your child’s progress and development, including any areas of concern or where additional support may be beneficial.

Progress updates can also be provided upon request, ensuring clear communication and transparency throughout the tuition process.

Communication

I welcome ongoing communication with parents and am available via WhatsApp for any questions or concerns.

Attendance & Cancellations

Absence Notification

Please provide as much notice as possible if your child is unable to attend a session. This cancellation policy must be implemented as part of running my tuition business professionally. As tutoring is my work and each session is a reserved appointment, cancellations at short notice directly affect my working time and income. The policy ensures that my time is respected and allows me to maintain a consistent and reliable service for all students

Cancellation Policy

More than 48 hours’ notice: No charge.

24–48 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee.

Less than 24 hours’ notice: Full session fee.

In exceptional circumstances, including genuine emergencies, unforeseen illness or circumstances beyond reasonable control, the usual cancellation and notice requirements may be waived at my discretion.

Online Tuition

Online tuition will be delivered through an agreed secure video-conferencing platform. Students are expected to join lessons from an appropriate, quiet environment and to behave respectfully and appropriately throughout the session.

Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that students have access to a suitable device, a reliable internet connection and an appropriate learning environment.

Other members of staff may assist with lessons, marking, resources or student support where required. Any staff member working with students is expected to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding standards consistent with this policy.
